Antenatal Clinics Will Continue As Normal

The current advice is that midwives will continue to provide all routine antenatal care.

Antenatal Clinics will continue within all GP surgeries as normal if at all possible. All women will receive a triage phone call prior to every face to face contact by the midwife to ensure they are symptom free prior to the appointment and women will be asked to attend the clinic alone. Any contacts that do not require a face to face contact will be moved to telephone/video calls potentially conducted from the surgery as determined by the midwife following triage.

Midwives have been advised to increase the length of the appointment for each woman to create opportunity for social distancing.

Routine postnatal care will continue, however face to face home visits will be reduced and women will be triaged via telephone prior to face to face contact. Some postnatal contacts will be via telephone/video calls.

Women should be encouraged to contact the triage telephone line if they have any concerns regarding their pregnancy. Women needing advice on COVID-19 related to pregnancy can access the Gloucestershire Maternity Voices website at hwww.glosmaternityvoices.nhs.uk
