LD nurses working in primary care to increase flu uptake

You may have noticed some new members to Team Aspen. We are very happy to have Sophie & Nikki working alongside our Learning Disability Team led by Dr Jarvis.

Following a successful bid to NHS England, Learning Disabilities (LD) Nurses, Nikki Price and Sophie Hawkins, from Gloucestershire Health and Care NHSFT, have embarked on a new project which involves them working alongside primary care colleagues to increase flu vaccination uptake amongst the LD population. Still in its infancy, the project’s long-term objective is the integration of learning disabilities nurses into primary care across Gloucestershire.

In this short film, Nikki and Sophie talk about the project’s work with LD Champion, Dr Iain Jarvis, and his colleagues at Aspen Medical Centre in Gloucester, to make reasonable adjustments for people with learning disabilities at the point of access of care.
